ADVANCED WELDING COURSE FOR SHIPBUILDING

The efficiency of welding works in the rail transport sector is fundamental for the safety of drivers, passengers and goods. The welding course for the railway sector at our school issues, after a theoretical and practical course, the certification of conformity necessary for all personnel involved in the production and repair of vehicles.


Thanks to this certificate and the skills it presupposes, it is possible to guarantee the high quality of the intervention. This is an increasingly requested qualification in the EU for the acceptance of paid jobs by public and private bodies.

VARIOUS TYPES OF NAVAL WELDING

In the naval sector, different types of welds are required, such as those of x-ray joints or butt with ceramic support on one side only in full penetration.

These processes are carried out on the reverse side of the joint using self-adhesive aluminum tape: when the result is optimal, there is no need to restart the work on the reverse side.


Once fixed to the reverse side of the weld, the ceramic support can be preheated up to 270° C without it coming loose. However, to complete these interventions correctly, MAG/FCAW specialization and MMA/SMAW coated electrode are required.

As mentioned, to access the welding course for the naval sector, good previous experience in welding on the cored wire (MAG/FCAW) and coated electrode (MMA/SMAW) processes is required.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SPECIALIST COURSE

The course aims to deal in depth with the advanced welding techniques of the MAG/FCAW cored wire and MMA/SMAW coated electrode process.


You will learn the theoretical notions on the processes and problems of shipbuilding, which you can put into practice in the field; you will also acquire UNI EN ISO 9606-1 certifications.

WELDING COURSE PROGRAM FOR THE NAVAL SECTOR

The welding course in the naval sector includes a brief theoretical introduction. Subsequently, the students will weld joints with ceramic support and apply techniques and materials typical of shipbuilding.

Practical lessons are carried out under the supervision of an expert teacher.


Going into detail, you will become familiar with:

  • carbon steel welding;
  • butt joints with ceramic support;
  • single/multiple bead welding techniques;
  • joints typical of shipbuilding;
  • analysis aimed at identifying the typical welding defects to be eliminated.

THEORETICAL PROGRAM OF THE WELDING COURSE FOR THE NAVAL SECTOR

The theoretical program of the course includes:

  • notions of safety at work;
  • principles of the MAG Flux Cored Wire FCAW welding process;
  • principles of the SMAW coated electrode welding process;
  • machine settings, welding parameters;
  • typical joints in the shipbuilding sector.
